Sigma Translations is amongst the pioneers providing professional services for translation and legalization in Varna and in the country. We have been following the same direction for over 20 years now and we strive to build on what we have achieved so that we can best meet the expectations of our customers.

Legalization of documents is necessary, to certify the validity and the legal value of a document issued by a particular country to another country. The procedure may include an official translation by a sworn translator, certification or placing an Apostille.

Only companies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Bulgaria can legalize documents. This ensures that all regulatory requirements regarding the translation, layout and certification of documents will be duly complied with. That is why since our incorporation we have a contract concluded with the Consular Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under which we have been providing legalization services to clients in the country and abroad for two decades.

What is an Apostille like and when we need similar certification?

Probably each of us at least once in his life has had or will have to get acquainted with the concept of certification with an Apostille. Increasingly active international connections and travel also require the provision of documents and their certification to foreign countries. This fact is especially valid for the beginning of the 20th century, but it was observed long before that.

And yet, if you have not encountered this concept before, what is an Apostille? In short, the word comes from the French language and means an internationally approved certification with a seal, which legalizes (certifies) a document from the state which issued it.

According to the Hague Convention, the apostille is a method of legalization of documents approved by an international act. The full title of the act is the Convention on the Abolition of the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Public Acts, approved in 1961. The convention has been in force in our country since 2001. The Apostille certifies it before all signatories to the Hague Convention.

Sigma Translations has been providing document legalization services since its very inception. We have experience with a wide range of documents certifying civil status, professional, educational and judicial status. Apostille of birth certificate and other civil status documents is placed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The National Center for Information and Documentation, the Ministry of Justice and the regional administrations are the other institutions in our country, which by competence, make an Apostille certification on public acts of the Bulgarian state.

Sigma Translations – legalization of civil status documents in Varna

Civil status documents reflect civil events in Bulgaria or abroad - birth, marriage or death. The legalization of acts means certification or certification through the procedures provided for in the legislation of the respective state or by virtue of international agreements to confirm the authenticity of documents issued by one state to another state.

Lеgalization of judicial documents: Choose Sigma Translations

Judicial documents are needed all over the world to certify the judicial status of persons (court decisions, title deeds, criminal record certificates, powers of attorney and so on). The documents issued by the Bulgarian state must be translated into the relevant foreign language, observing a certain form depending on whether the state, which they are intended for, is a party to the Hague Convention and whether there is a legal aid agreement with our country. This is the legalization of court documents.

Given the fact that these are court documents, the translation must be very precise, because each word has a meaning, but it must also be localized to the respective language in order to sound natural. That is why the legalization of court decisions, for example, is one of the biggest challenges for translation. You can trust us completely, because for over 20 years we have been providing these specialized services to individuals and legal entities. We will consult you completely free of charge on the procedures regarding the legalization of notarial deeds, as well as other documents related to case law. For example, if you are applying for a job abroad, you will also need a legalization of your criminal record.
